Have you ever thought about yourself as an entrepreneur? Perhaps you’re considering becoming one and ditching the 9 to 5? Either way, entrepreneurship is a fascinating profession that allows one to live life on their own terms.
It can be a big step that many are afraid of taking. Maybe you’re wondering if you have what it takes or your just unsure.
Read through this list of signs and you might find that you’re an entrepreneur (even if you don’t know it yet).
1. You Don’t Give Up
In this age of information, starting a business is now easier than ever. But creating an accomplished and successful business is the hard part. Many businesses fail, but failure won’t stop a true entrepreneur. If a plan doesn’t work out, an entrepreneur will try and try again.
If you ask a successful person how they succeeded, many will simply reply “by not giving up.” Quitting can turn into a habit, the more you do it, the easier it gets.
Entrepreneurs don’t fall into the habit of quitting; they’ll always see things through. If you refuse to give up, it could be a sign you’re an entrepreneur.
2. You Think Differently
Entrepreneurs think differently than normal people. They are positive, optimistic, and always ask if there’s a better way. An entrepreneur always has his or her eyes and ears open to new opportunities.
When something frustrates them, they ask how can this be improved? An entrepreneur will look to solve problems, create value, and think outside the box.
Normal people will scoff at most ideas they hear from an entrepreneur. They will say it’s impossible, stupid, crazy or it can’t be done.
The word impossible isn’t in the vocabulary of an entrepreneur. They have big dreams and think about how they can make them a reality.
3. You Are Passionate
“We believe people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe. And we believe that those people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that actually do.” – Steve Jobs
Being passionate is a sign you’re an entrepreneur. Passion is energy, it’s the fire that burns deep inside an individual. When you are passionate about something, you do your very best at it, and you light up whenever anyone talks about it.
It’s rare for someone to be passionate about their job or even their career. They’re merely just doing it for the money. An entrepreneur can’t live without passion.
They must be doing something they actually care about or it’s not worth their time. Passion comes from being your true self, it makes obstacles easier and gives you a sense of purpose.
4. You Are A Go-Getter
Are you a go-getter? Do you always go above and beyond? Well so does an entrepreneur. A go-getter puts in more work than the average person. They hunt down opportunities or create them themselves.
It’s easy for the average person to get complacent and accept whatever life gives them.
Being a go-getter means you never get complacent; you push yourself day in and day out. It means you’re not afraid of hard work and you don’t believe in getting everything handed to you.
While most people are okay with sitting back and watching things happen. An entrepreneur isn’t! They would rather take action and make things happen.
5. You Take Risks
Starting a business is risky and you need to have a lot of courage to do it. Not only are you leaving the security of a job, but you are also putting your own mental health and personal finances at stake.
This is why few people will choose to be an entrepreneur, they are afraid of taking risks.
Abandoning a steady paycheck in hopes to be a successful business owner takes guts. If you see the risks as being worth the reward and you are not afraid to take a chance on yourself, it’s a sign that you’re an entrepreneur.
6. You Are Competitive
It should be no surprise that entrepreneurs face a heavy amount of competition. Even though most folks choose to work for someone else, there is still a ton of people trying to make it on their own.
If you have an idea, chances are someone else has thought of it and is already 3 steps ahead of you.
Competition doesn’t scare an entrepreneur; it just drives them to be better. You’ll hear people say things like “that’s been done before” or “I wish I would have thought of that.”
They will use competition as excuses to never even try, but an entrepreneur will study its competition and learn to compete.
ou Are Good With People
If you have good interpersonal skills, it will become a huge asset if you choose to be an entrepreneur.
Being a people person makes it easy to lead and motivate others. Although there are a lot of entrepreneurs that are total introverts, they can still successfully deal with people.
An entrepreneur will interact with all sorts of different people throughout their career. They’ll face people that doubt them and want to see them fail.
Entrepreneurs will get interrogated by friends and family, or they might even get completely ignored. Not letting negative people affect you and building strong relationships is a crucial entrepreneurial skill.
